FAAS TAAG – Senior

When our clients face complex finance and controllership issues, they rely on us to get it right. Our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team is growing exponentially, and as a Senior in our Technical Accounting Advisory Group (TAAG), you will play a key role in that growth. Working across all industries, you will develop your career by communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally. It’s all about listening to and understanding our clients to give them a truly exceptional experience.

The Opportunity

As part of our Technical Accounting Advisory Group you will help companies manage complex financial and accounting issues relating to consolidation and joint ventures, IPOs, business combinations, compensation, revenue recognition, derivatives and hedging, debt vs. equity, SEC reporting, leases, and much more. This is a highly visible role allowing you to work with a broad set of clients across the U.S., interacting directly with our FAAS, audit teams, and clients. Your work will accelerate learning in technical accounting at a fast pace and depth.

Key Responsibilities

Every project is unique. You will think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues. Collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, build relationships, and identify opportunities for our clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas. Occasional travel may be necessary to meet with key clients.

Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Consult with clients on complex and technical accounting issues
  • Collaborate with partners, senior managers and clients to influence strategy, balancing risk and client expectations
  • Ensure engagement teams thoroughly understand clients’ unique needs, ambitions, and expectations
  • Build relationships with colleagues across multiple service lines to provide seamless, integrated service
  • Manage performance and identify opportunities to improve products and processes
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree, CPA certification and 2 to 5 years’ work experience, preferably as an auditor in a public accounting firm
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • A thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Exposure to or interest in complex technical accounting topics is a plus
  • Understanding of marketplace terminology, processes, and tools
  • A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring, and improving a high‑performing team
  • Confidence to research and resolve emerging client issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work beyond standard hours when necessary
  • Reliable transportation to and from the EY office and client sites; a driver’s license is strongly recommended
What We Look For

We are interested in versatile people with the ability to take on new responsibilities, listen to clients, and get things done. While technical accounting experience is a plus, we are primarily interested in strong performers who can build relationships, negotiate, and think creatively. If you are a confident leader with a curious mind and the ability to solve complex issues, this role is for you.

What We Offer You
  • A comprehensive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range in the U.S. from $90,800 to $149,800, and from $109,000 to $170,200 for NYC, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento). Total rewards include medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.
  • A team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. External, client‑serving roles are expected to work in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
  • A flexible vacation policy that lets you decide how much time off you need based on your personal circumstances. You’ll also receive time off for EY Paid Holidays, seasonal breaks, personal/family care, and other leaves of absence.
