F5 Technician (F5 Systems Administrator)
Location: MacDill AFB, FL (Onsite, no telecommuting)
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI required; US citizenship required. Current or eligible to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Less than 10% travel.
Job Overview
As a F5 Technician (F5 Systems Administrator) you will configure, maintain, and troubleshoot F5 load balancing and traffic‑management systems to support critical applications for USCENTCOM. You will collaborate with network, systems, and security teams to optimize application delivery and implement solutions that meet mission requirements.
Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, and maintain F5 BIG‑IP systems, including Load Balancers, ADCs, and SSL/TLS offloading.
- Design and implement traffic‑management rules (GSLB and LSLB) and manage F5 iRules.
- Troubleshoot performance and availability issues, providing root‑cause analysis and minimal service disruption.
- Collaborate with network, systems, and security teams to integrate F5 solutions into the broader infrastructure.
- Monitor system health, generate proactive performance recommendations, and assist with upgrades and patching.
- Document configurations, change management procedures, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other IT teams and end‑users.
- Escalate issues to vendors when necessary and support incident response relating to F5 systems.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of related F5 Systems Administration experience.
- Hands‑on experience with F5 BIG‑IP systems: Load Balancers, ADCs, SSL/TLS offloading.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSL/TLS.
- Experience with F5 iRules and traffic‑management policies.
- Proficiency in configuring high‑availability, disaster‑recovery, and scalability for F5 systems.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE, F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5‑CTS), ITIL 4 Foundation (preferred).
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., F5 Analytics) and automation/orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform).
- Ability to work with multiple teams, develop training, and communicate complex technical concepts.
- Knowledge of USCENTCOM mission and operations is a plus.
