Job summary

GE Aerospace in Kansas is seeking a Propulsion Engineer at the Strother Field site. You will troubleshoot, analyze data, and disposition hardware for F110 modules, driving reliability and shop efficiency.

You will collaborate with design, quality, and operations to implement corrective actions, develop optimized work scopes, and train production teams on new processes and techniques for maximum yield and equipment capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 3+ years aerospace manufacturing experience OR HS +7 years aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 1 year troubleshooting experience in production, overhaul, or maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues using data analysis and RCA.
  • Analyze inspection findings to determine repair/disposition decisions for engine hardware.
  • Develop incoming work scopes balancing technical requirements with customer needs.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and operations to implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and documentation to production teams and customers.
  • Assist production in resolving manufacturing process problems via root-cause and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate processes by designing trials and considering materials, tooling, and vendors.

Job Description Summary

Role Overview

As a Propulsion Engineer at our Strother Field site, you will focus on troubleshooting, engineering analysis, and hardware disposition for F110 modules. You will resolve complex engine issues, develop optimized work scopes, and provide data-driven recommendations that improve engine performance, reliability, and shop efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues using data analysis and structured problem-solving (RCA, five-why)
  • Analyze inspection findings and data to determine repair/replace/reuse dispositions for engine hardware
  • Develop incoming work scopes that balance technical requirements, customer needs, and contractual obligations
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and operations to implement corrective actions and drive design or process improvements
  • Provide clear technical guidance and documentation to production teams, internal partners, and customers
  • Assist Production Supervisors and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research trials; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, machining, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Work cross functionally with quality and design engineers to ensure that new processes achieve established metrics
  • Translate technical processes and methods to train and empower production employees in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield, effectiveness & equipment capability
  • Utilize lean principles to improve manufacturing efficiency by optimizing and planning work flow, space requirements, equipment organization and equipment layout.
  • Promote and build a positive working relationship with hourly team members
Ideal Candidate

You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys digging into data, solving problems at the root cause, and working closely with shop and cross-functional teams to keep hardware moving through the factory safely and efficiently

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience troubleshooting technical issues in a production, overhaul, or maintenance environment
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • LEAN/Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving/quality training
  • Jet engine experience in workscoping and hardware dispositions
  • Proficiency with MS Office and basic engineering analysis tools
  • Experience collaborating in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • SAP experience
Additional Information
  • Schedule: 1st Shift, approximately 45 hours/week – with paid overtime
  • Rotational availability for weekend coverage
  • Must be U.S. Citizen, pass background checks and drug screenings
  • Role may require lifting and work in varying environmental conditions
