Job summary

Newport Aquarium LLC seeks an on-site Food & Beverage team lead to manage Sharky’s Café operations and mentor a small team of 1 to 4 members. You will ensure guest transactions, food prep, cleanliness, and PCI compliance while upholding safety and core values.

The role requires strong English communication, guest service experience, and flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Join a energetic team dedicated to delivering the best guest experience in the nation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is a plus
• Prior point of sale experience is a plus.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience desired.
• Must have strong public speaking skills the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus)
• Must be able to think clearly, react quickly, and calmly to changes and/or stressful situations
• Previous guest service, food industry or retail experience preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and/or weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform, adhere to, and implement all Newport Aquarium's Core Values and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient food and beverage operation.
• Maintain a positive attitude and appearance at all times.
• Overseeing Sharky's Café guest-facing processes, and leading 1 to 4 team members.
• Help Food and Beverage Management Team develop and monitor a highly motivated, positive, and productive team.
• Assist in evaluations and training of all Food and Beverage team members.
• Help implement new policies and procedures when needed.
• Maintaining accurate record keeping involving team members, including awards and recognitions.
• Handle comments, concerns and suggestions from fellow employees and guests regarding the guest experience.
• Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium promotions to properly inform guests.
• Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable.
• Keep safety as a number one priority at all times while working at Newport Aquarium.
• Work with other team members/departments of Newport Aquarium to ensure effective communication.
• Perform opening and closing duties as needed.
• Cross-train in other food and beverage areas as needed.
• Responsible for PCI compliance.
• Participates in basic functions of the foods department including guest transactions, preparing food, and cleaning the lobby/café.
• Maintain inventory and ensure items are in stock.
• Maintain proper break schedule for team members.
• Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned.
