Job summary

The Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries, Virginia is seeking a friendly and reliable Food & Beverage Host as part of Churchill Downs Incorporated. You will be the welcoming face of the venue, delivering excellent guest service and maintaining a clean front-of-house area to ensure smooth operations.

You will work with dining room, service, and kitchen teams to manage orders, handle payments, and keep accurate tabs on tables using the POS system.

Qualifications

• Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
• Obtain and retain required license(s).
• Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
• Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.
• Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gaming.
• Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with dining room, service, and kitchen staff to keep track of all orders and monetary situations, and charges.
• Validate methods of payment, complete transactions, provide receipts, and dispense change as needed.
• Count money in cash drawers at the start of shifts to ensure correct amounts and adequate change.
• Scan items and ensure pricing is correct or resolve discrepancies; process payments by cash, card, check, or gift card.
• Keep the service area clean and organized; stock receipt paper and supplies.
• Maintain accurate tabs on each restaurant table’s order using the venue’s POS system.
• Answer customers’ questions and involve a manager if needed for resolution.
• Ensure all kitchen orders meet presentation standards and guest requests; garnish and present dishes; monitor flow and safety.
• Inform wait staff of wait times and shortages; assist in to-go bagging; attend briefings as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
