Job summary

A leading organization in New Jersey is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting department's operations. Job description

Coordinate efforts of department staff and assist in performing all functions required for the efficient operation of the accounting department, with particular attention given to maintaining a high level of quality and to completing assignments on a timely basis. Communicate effectively with the Director of Accounting regarding the status of work. Effectively supervise PPP Senior Accountant. Coordinate with Program and Real Estate Senior Accountants on assigned tasks and responsibilities. Be able and flexible to work additional hours as needed to complete assignments.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Accountancy. Minimum three years in organizational accounting, with preferred experience in not-for-profit and/or Real estate sectors.

JOB TASKS

  • Maintain the entire process for accounts payable functions, including check processing in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate the processing and payment of all utility bills and Credit Cards (Amex, PNC).
  • PEX Maintenance for Food/Fuel/Petty Cash/Program cards and reconciliations.
  • As assigned, make deposits, journal entries, and deposit entries to the general ledger accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare vouchers and make rent payments to landlords for members as needed.
  • Cooperate with any Agency, DDD, and DCP&P investigation and inspection processes.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to maintain appropriate relationships with people with disabilities and at-risk adolescents, utilizing normalization principles.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of CAU staff, members’ families, and within the community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and other relevant computer software.
  • Resourcefulness and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in mathematical functions.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and a safe driving record are required.

SHIFT: Monday – Friday, hours vary between 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., with evenings and weekends as needed.
