Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a dynamic F-35 Instructor Pilot for a full-time position at Misawa Air Base, Japan, to deliver academic training via EML and ICW and to operate Full Mission Simulators. The role requires instructor experience, secure clearance, and deep knowledge of 4th/5th generation aircraft systems.

You will work with our training team to update courseware, coordinate schedules, and ensure training objectives are met, with potential to support other sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Active secret clearance or eligibility for SAR programs and ability to obtain within 5 years.

THE WORK

This position is a full-time position as a F-35 Instructor Pilot at Misawa Air Base, Japan in support of the JASDF F-35 Lightning II program. As an F-35 instructor, you will provide academic training through Electronic Mediated Lecture (EML) and Interactive Courseware (ICW). You will provide instruction using the Full Mission Simulators (FMS), operate Instructor Operating Stations (IOS), and will be responsible for all pilot training courseware updates.

As a successful candidate, you will work closely with other members of the Lockheed Martin training team to fulfill F-35 training objectives. You will implement, and support Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs, and policies as directed. This candidate may also be requested to augment training objectives and instruction at other F-35 operational/training sites as needed.

Instructs pilots in flight procedures and techniques in ground school courses and flight training. Prepares lesson plans. Applies advanced technical concepts in the area of aviation and provides assistance in creation of training material. Assists in the preparation of schedules, maintenance of training records and ensures that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student. Evaluates and monitors students’ performance. This position is typically represented by an experienced pilot.

Basic Qualifications
  • Candidate must have active secret clearance and with investigation within 5 years be able to qualify for access to Special Access Required (SAR) programs.
  • Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of fourth and/or fifth generation aircraft systems, operational experience with advanced sensor systems such as Night Vision devices, EO/IR targeting systems, Helmet Mounted Cuing, and the latest air-to-surface and air-to-air weapons inventory.
  • Candidate must have prior experience in delivering military pilot academics and simulator training and be familiar with current instructional techniques and delivery methods.
  • Candidate must have worked in an environment which required them to interact with multiple functional areas and personnel of a diverse nature.
  • Use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is required.
  • Candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent leadership traits, strong oral & written communication abilities, solid ability to organize, and a high desire to provide customer satisfaction.
Desired Skills
  • Current or demonstrated experience as an USAF/USN/USMC IP with multi-role fighter experience.
  • Former Weapon School, Top Gun, or MAWTS graduate desired.
  • Fourth/Fifth generation Full Mission Simulator (FMS) experience as an operator and/or instructor.
  • F-35 flight experience is highly desired.
  • Candidate with a minimum of 1000 hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and/or fifth generation multi-role fighter aircraft.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
