Description
The Systems Database Administrator performs programming services for establishments or outside organizations who may contract for services.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily connectivity from squadron's OOMA server to the NAVAIR top-tier servers and AME-archive drop box servers. Verify outbound SFTP connectivity to the AME-archive drop box server.
- Verify with logs and records that all data from the DSU has been applied prior to removing the OOMA server from the network.
- Verify ports are enabled to establish connectivity between the OOMA servers and the FAME top tier servers.
- Ensure that during deployment/detachment, normal OOMA database ports are enabled for server connectivity.
- Screen WOs and enter changes into the OOMA system for engine and component maintenance actions, tracking/removing/replacing components.
- Utilize FAME MAPA Trend Analysis Reports for aircraft that have flown and provide copies to QA and MC daily.
- Process all NAVFLIR data.
- Oversee maintenance of all required maintenance data and records within the database.
- Ensure baseline changes and modifications are current; identify database deficiencies and submit Trouble Reports.
- Manage network access requests within the NALCOMIS Database System and assign access as needed.
- Identify user issues and submit trouble reports via SMTS or SPAWARSYSCEN per directives.
- Provide training to maintenance personnel on NALCOMIS OOMA operations.
- Ensure accurate collection, verification, processing, and sorting of maintenance raw data.
- Develop queries, reports, and programs for management analysis regarding aircraft conditions, utilization, workload, manpower, and failure trends.
- Coordinate system non-availability periods and oversee data transfer requirements.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of NALCOMIS OOMA System, manuals, logs, and related documentation.
- Perform other duties as per COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series and contract requirements.
- Prepare reports (weekly, monthly, yearly) as assigned.
- Process readiness documents, manage aircraft configuration status, and verify utilization reports.
- Provide technical guidance and support.
- Perform data processing, entry, and administrative support in systems like NALCOMIS OOMA, OMA, and IMDS.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work environment.
- Maintain professional conduct and customer service standards.
- Follow FOD, Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs, and safety regulations.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the VE Administrator.
Other or Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience managing backup solutions (Tape/Disk, etc.)
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain workflow.
- Prepare Contract Data Requirement List Reports.
- High proficiency in computer operation and keypunch skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute.
- Ability to read, write, understand, communicate in English, and follow instructions.
Experience & Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of experience as a NALCOMIS OOMA database/system administrator.
- CNATTU FAME Course (C-150-3871).
- Recent experience (within last 4 years) as a NALCOMIS OOMA system administrator.
- Navy NEC F02A, F03A or MOS 6049 (preferred).
- Courses like NALCOMIS Pipeline (C-555-00216) or NALCOMIS System Administrator/Analyst (C-555-2018); refresher courses if not recent.
- Completion of U.S. Armed Forces Logs and Records courses or equivalent, or aviation clerical experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret US Government Clearance.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment:
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Work in office and hanger environments, in hot and cold conditions.
Travel:
- May require travel to different squadron locations and detachments.
