Job summary

AAR Corp. is seeking an F-16 Avionics or Electrical/Environmental Technician III at Kelly Field in San Antonio, TX to perform depot-level modification, upgrade, and test of aircraft sub-systems to ensure airworthiness.

The job requires hands-on inspection, testing, and repair of radar, radio, navigation, and power systems, with shift options and 4x10 hour days Tue–Fri. A related degree or experience and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
• Associate's degree plus 4 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
• High School Diploma plus 8 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
• F-16 experience strongly preferred, but other fighter jet experience may be considered.
• 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus.
• Microsoft Office Suite skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Modifies, upgrades, inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment.
• Inspects components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
• Tests avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
• Calibrates installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications when required.
• Operates ground servicing equipment to test and verify functionality and airworthiness of avionic and other electrical systems when required.
• Accurately document all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records.
• Interact effectively with program and customer representatives as well as on-site business or military representatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
