Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled Process Technician to join our team in Selma, AL. The role focuses on setting up, monitoring, and optimizing extrusion processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality products.

The candidate will troubleshoot process issues, collaborate with maintenance and quality teams, and assist with start-ups, shutdowns and operator training while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 3 years of supervisor or lead operator, related work experience and/or proven performance.
• Demonstrate ability in basic mathematical computations and to accurately use a tape measure and calipers.
• Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools and to perform routine maintenance on molders and brush machines.
• Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for up to three hours without a break and twelve hours with breaks, lift weights up to 100 pounds at shoulder level.
• Demonstrate ability to follow written and oral instructions and effectively communicate with coworkers.
• Ability to work shifts and hours mandated by management and to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Primary objectives are productivity improvement, process efficiency, downtime reduction, and high quality.
• Assist extruder operators in solving processing issues and recommend parameter changes when extruded profiles are out of specification.
• Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams to address mechanical or material-related concerns.
• Optimize production rates and assist with start-ups, shutdowns and training of operators.
• Maintains various training manuals, records and performs other duties as required.
• Understands the effects of changes in material, temperature and die alterations.
• Knows how to read run sheets and other process documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process enhancements.
