We are seeking a motivated Extrusion Operator Trainee to join our manufacturing team in Sugar Land, Texas. In this role, you will undergo hands-on technical training to support and operate 8 state-of-the-art Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) blown film extrusion lines producing flexible plastic packaging film. Working alongside experienced operators, you will learn all aspects of the extrusion process—from resin blend staging and line setups to troubleshooting, quality inspection, and routine equipment maintenance.
Learn to set up, operate, and assist in troubleshooting 8 high-speed W&H blown film extrusion machines. Perform line setups, die adjustments, and product changeovers according to job specifications. Order, stage, and handle raw resins and packaging materials; develop a working knowledge of different resin types and blend formulations.
Quality Control & PackagingConduct continuous visual and dimensional quality checks on extruded film to ensure customer specifications are met. Promptly identify, segregate, and address non-conforming materials to minimize scrap. Accurately track and log production output, scrap rates, and machine downtime. Label, package, and palletize finished film rolls; safely operate electric walkie pallet jacks to transport materials throughout the plant.
Maintenance & SafetyPerform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including screen changes, blade replacements, and die cleaning. Strictly follow all plant safety rules, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in compliance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) and company standards.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout a 12-hour shift. Comfort working in an active industrial manufacturing plant around high-speed machinery. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
