A leading company in the flooring industry is seeking an Extrusion Operator to ensure quality production through regular inspections and maintenance of equipment. The role involves operating machinery, performing minor repairs, and adhering to safety protocols while working in a dynamic environment.
Extrusion Operator J-2
Performs regular and routine inspection of line to ensure the production of a first-quality product, taking corrective action when quality defects are encountered.
Verifies equipment settings are correct.
Threads/ties in line following correct procedures (through water tank, rolls, ovens, to winder, etc.).
Doffs, ties, and inspects all finished packages for defects to ensure a quality product.
Applies correct product label with operator ID on each finished package and places it in a tray on the packing rail.
Prepares pallets, boxes, tops, bottoms, and dividers for direct packout.
Prepares a barcode label for containers of production.
Repairs all breakouts and restarts the line as soon as possible.
Responsible for dispositioning cordage packages.
Performs color changes following correct procedures.
Responsible for proper shutdown/startup procedures.
Ensures proper specifications are placed on the job.
Maintains product standards and handles cake and aspirator waste.
Maintains accurate records of all downtime and performs minor mechanical repairs as needed.
Communicates with off-going/on-coming shifts regarding line conditions.
Works closely with management during product changes, shutdowns, or startups.
Responsible for numbering and placing tubes in holders, and breaking down concentrate and resin boxes for recycling.
Performs ERP testing based on instructions and process specifications.
Identifies non-conformances and follows SMS procedures where applicable.
Ensures packages sent to the lab are properly identified and recycled materials are stored correctly.
Operates lift trucks as required, performs checklist, and maintains batteries.
Adheres to lockout/tagout procedures and maintains equipment safety and operability.
Uses hand tools safely, performs housekeeping, and enters maintenance data in CMMS EZ Entry.
Participates in TPM and complies with Shaw Management System (SMS) procedures.
Participates in the Quality P.R.I.D.E. process and performs all duties safely.
Follows corporate policies on absenteeism, tardiness, and S.A.F.E. procedures.
Works scheduled days, with overtime as needed, and performs other duties as assigned.
Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift, carry, climb, and reach as required, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working with hands overhead.
Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders and withstand high temperatures.
Must push pallets and waste as required.
Must distinguish colors, complete Lift Truck certification, and possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Must work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Attend orientation, quality and safety training, on-the-job training, and complete CMMS EZ Entry training.
Responsible for safety equipment, equipment, materials, and supplies needed for tasks.
Maintain a safe, clean work area, report unsafe conditions and accidents, wear PPE, and comply with safety rules, including wearing toe-protective shoes.
