Job summary

Amcor Mundelein is seeking an extrusion operator to set up, run, and troubleshoot extrusion machines producing quality film products. You will follow a defined schedule, monitor controls, perform simple tolerance checks, and help with line changes and maintenance.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and consistent production flow. Starting pay ranges from $25 to $33 per hour with shifts (days or nights), benefits from day one, and potential quarterly bonuses.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience or machine operating required.

Responsibilities

• Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations.

• Operate or monitor equipment to maintain material flow.
• Perform basic tolerance and measurement checks.

• Detect and report defective materials or faulty equipment.
• Set up extrusion lines and monitor line controls.
• Examine products for defects and record quality results.
• Assist in preventative maintenance and keep area clean.

The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $25; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience between $25 and $33.

Shift Schedules Available

• 2-2-3, 12 hour schedule on days (6:00AM-6:00PM) or nights (6:00PM-6:00AM). Must be available to work weekends and Holidays.

Job Overview

In this extrusion operator role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting extrusion machines to produce quality products for our customers.

What You Get To Do As An Extrusion Operator

• Observe all prescribed or standard safety rules and regulations
• Work from assigned schedule, work orders, perform and make decisions as the sequence of setups and processes within recognized methods and procedures
• Obtain work instruction and follow prescribed procedures to set or monitor a limited number of barrel augur, extruder, and related forming/winding controls, such as pressure, speed, tension, and heat
• Move, position nip rollers, rewind shafts, and razor cut devices as required for proper operation. Arrange scrap recovery rolls or cart in proper feed manner
• Operate equipment or monitor continuing operations to maintain proper flow of raw and scrap film material and forming, cutting, and rewind operations
• Remove completed work; make simple tolerance and/or measurement checks required
• Occasionally perform or assist fairly complicated setup, other machine or related equipment repair, or maintenance duties as instructed
• Detect and report defective, contaminated material, unusual conditions, or faulty equipment to proper supervision
• Set up extrusion lines, extrusion/die head changes, monitoring all line controls & making proper adjustments, and checking dimensions/quality of product
• Examine products for fine defects and perform quality testing while maintaining production records
• Assist in preventative maintenance of all machines and auxiliary equipment
• Ensure work is completion to standard
• Keep area clean and equipment in good working order

Qualifications/Requirements

• Manufacturing experience or previous machine operating is required
• Technical knowledge of extrusion preferred, not required
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read a ruler
• Basic computer skills
• Demonstrates organizational skills

Physical Demands

• Physically able to lift up to 40lbs
• Standing up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days/week
• Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs
• Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards
• Able to read/see up to 1/16 of an inch
