Job summary

Amcor Flexibles, LLC is seeking an on-site Production Operator in Dallas, TX to support blown film extrusion. You will set up extrusion lines, monitor film quality, and adjust processes to meet customer specifications. The role requires basic math, good English, and 2–5 years of extrusion experience.

You will work under the Lead Operator, train teammates, and participate in routine maintenance while ensuring safety and efficiency on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • Basic math skills required; able to read measurements and specifications.
  • Solid computer skills and ability to use production software.
  • Good English; bilingual not required but a plus.
  • Experience with blown film extrusion in a manufacturing setting.
  • 2–5 years in manufacturing/extrusion preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Ability to provide guidance and leadership to teammates.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and punctuality.
  • Must read production orders and understand finished product specs.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Amcor safety policies and production procedures.
  • Review specifications and ensure materials and equipment are ready for production.
  • Assist in setup of extrusion lines and related equipment to achieve film specs.
  • Set up extruder, die, tower, treater stations, bag machines and winders for proper film dimensions.
  • Monitor finished film for quality and take corrective action as needed.
  • Train teammates under supervision of Lead Operator.
  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment operates properly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Purpose

Assists in setting up and operating thermoplastic extruders and associated production equipment to convert plastic resins into blown film for flexible plastic sheeting, tubing or bags. Performs manufacturing operations that efficiently produce a flexible product on a timely basis that meets all the customer's product specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Follows Amcor Safety policies.
  • Reviews Production Order Form specifications to ensure the correct equipment, packaging supplies and raw materials are available to produce a product that meets the customer's specifications.
  • Assists in performing equipment production set‑up under the direction of the Lead Operator or his designee. Set‑ups may include but are not limited to the following production equipment:
  • Sets up and controls extruder, die and tower to set film dimension and thickness.
  • Sets up and controls treater stations to prepare film surface.
  • Sets up and controls in‑line bag machines to set film dimensions and characteristics.
  • Sets up and controls winders to set film dimensions and characteristics.
  • Sets up and controls post gusseter to set film dimensions.
  • Sets up and controls folder to set film dimensions.
  • Sets up and controls in‑line press to set printed film.
  • Sets up and controls separator to separate film.
  • Periodically observes and checks finished film coming off the production lines and if detects substandard product takes immediate corrective action to eliminate any causes of sub‑standard product.
  • Under direction of the Lead Operator may train team members in correct operating procedures, safety and quality policy procedures.
  • Monitors production equipment to insure equipment is operating properly and under supervision of the Lead Operator performs routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 2-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot & solve problems.
  • Ability to provide guidance and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be punctual; arrive at line on time.
  • Must be able to understand plastic weight, bag count and footage formulas.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Must be able to understand customer specifications in the Production Order Form and know what finished flexible product should be produced that meets all the customer's specifications.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk and communicate.
  • Ability to see and hear.
  • Regularly required to move up to 35 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stretch and bend.
  • Frequently climbs towers up to 35 feet high (cannot have fear of heights).
  • Regularly required to climb or balance.
