Job summary

ACT Entertainment is seeking an Extrusion Operator for our Leominster, MA facility. This hands-on role involves setting up, running, and fine-tuning extrusion machinery to shape thermoplastic over the cable core, while focusing on quality, speed, and safety.

The position is full-time, with potential night and weekend shifts. You will perform routine maintenance, monitor processes, and maintain accurate production records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus 1-3 months of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Previous hands-on or on-the-job experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on the extrusion machine—cleaning and lubricating to keep equipment running.
• Keep the work area clean and organized for efficient production.
• Set up the extrusion machine to run items per shop paperwork specifications.
• Verify machine setup and dial in parameters before starting production.
• Monitor the extrusion process and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and output.
• Conduct quality and settings checks at shift start and throughout the day.
• Troubleshoot minor issues to minimize downtime and escalate problems to supervision when needed.
• Record production data: counts, machine settings, and maintenance activity.
• Follow all safety guidelines and participate in training on equipment and paperwork processes.

As an Extrusion Operator at our Leominster, MA facility, you'll set up, run, and fine-tune the machines that shape thermoplastic over the cabled core — keeping a close eye on quality, speed, and safety with every run. It's hands-on, detail-driven work where your focus directly shapes the product that goes out the door.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Perform routine maintenance on the extrusion machine — cleaning and lubricating to keep equipment running strong and lasting longer.
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and ready to go.
• Set up the extrusion machine to run each item to the exact specifications on the shop paperwork.
• Check your setup once the machine is running to confirm everything is dialed in.
• Monitor the extrusion process closely, making real‑time adjustments to maintain product quality and output efficiency.
• Conduct quality and settings checks at the start of shift and regularly throughout the day.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues to keep downtime to a minimum.
• Flag issues to your supervisor right away, especially when items fall short of quality standards.
• Maintain accurate production records — product counts, machine settings, and maintenance activity — to track productivity and spot opportunities to improve.
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to keep the work environment safe for everyone.
• Take part in training on the machine, printer, and paperwork processes.
• Pitch in on other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

TEAM STRUCTURE

This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities — it's an opportunity to build strong technical skills on the production floor.

WHAT YOU BRING

• A high school diploma or GED, plus 1-3 months of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Prior hands‑on or on‑the‑job experience is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting instincts.
• Comfort working as part of a team, as well as tackling independent projects.
• Good communication skills and patience.
• Flexibility to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Occasionally handles printer ink and solvent while wearing protective gear.
• Frequently stands and walks throughout the shift.
• Frequently touches hot items using protective gear.
• Frequently submerges hands in water.
• Continually works near moving mechanical parts and an extruder that heats up to 400 degrees.
• Works in an environment where the noise level is usually loud.
• Lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
• Uses close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Works with specialized equipment, including diameter tape, micrometer, vernier, large cutter, and pick glass.
