Responsibilities

• Replace die assemblies or components as needed (damaged, worn, or broken).
• Monitor polyester/yarn supplies and splice new packages to prevent run-outs.
• Check raw materials (PVC compounds, pigments, pellets) to keep extruders running.
• Verify heat profiles and keep temperatures within approved ranges.
• Initiate startup after a breakout or dry blend start-up; ensure proper yarn yields.
• Keep work area clean and manage housekeeping around extruder set.
• Perform other duties as assigned by lead, supervisor, or department manager.

Description

Knowledge & Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent and experience running machinery preferred.

Skills & Abilities: Must possess good communication skills and be able to multi-task. Must be able to read, write, perform simple math and be able to follow written/verbal instructions. Must have good manual dexterity. Must work well with others and be able to handle a high-pressure environment.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work 12-hour day or night shifts and be able to lift 50 pounds overhead. Will be required to wear protective eye wear and hearing protection. Must be able to stand and perform strenuous work for long hours in heat, cold, humidity and noise. Will need to walk between machines on concrete floor throughout the entire 12-hour shift.

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for operating and maintaining 3 or more extruders during each shift. Number of extruders may vary based on management requirements. Duties for this responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Pulls and replaces die assemblies or components of said assemblies that are damaged, defective, worn or that the polyester has broken out of.
• Keeps a check on polyester or other core yarns and splices new packages in to avoid run-outs or breakouts.
• Keeps a check on raw materials including PVC compounds, liquid pigments, pellets, etc. at their extruders to be sure there are sufficient supplies to keep the extruders running.
• Checks heat profiles on each of their extruders periodically to be sure temperatures are within the approved ranges.
• After a breakout or on a dry blend start up, the operator is responsible for starting up the extruder and getting all settings and yarn yields back on target. Housekeeping is the operator’s responsibility around their set of extruders. This shall be done periodically during each shift. All water, purged waste, compound, trash, etc., must be kept off the floor at a level deemed acceptable by department management.
• Cleans wrapped up yarn off of pull rollers, winders and/or godet rollers.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the lead, supervisor, or department manager
