Job summary

Amcor Limited in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Machine Operator for the day shift (6:45 am to 7:00 pm). You will operate extrusion equipment, monitor production, and ensure products meet safety and quality standards in a fast-paced, 24/7 facility.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 2–5 years in manufacturing (extrusion preferred), strong English communication, and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2–5 years in manufacturing, extrusion preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead and train team members.
• Fluent in English; bilingual a plus; able to work with cross-functional teams.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and 12-hour shifts as needed.
• Able to stand for extended periods and wear PPE in a high-noise environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor extrusion equipment to meet production goals.
• Verify materials and set up equipment as directed by Lead Operator.
• Inspect finished film and take corrective action for substandard product.
• Document production data including output, downtime, and quality checks.
• Train new operators on procedures, safety, and quality standards.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow safety policies.
• Coordinate with maintenance and quality teams to resolve issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
