Job summary

Parker Hannifin Corporation - Parflex Division in Manitowoc, WI is seeking a Hose & Tubing Extrusion Machine Operator. You will work on thermo-plastic extrusion lines, producing high‑quality hose and tubing for aerospace, defense, and energy applications.

Training is provided and third shift hours offer a shift premium. You will use precision measuring tools, maintain safety, and follow engineering specs while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in a controlled manufacturing

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates thermo-plastic extruders and auxiliary equipment on the extruder line according to engineering specifications; makes immediate corrections where possible.
  • Utilizes precision measuring instruments, performing tests and recording information to ensure quality standards.
  • Determines proper tooling changeovers to meet specifications and monitors machines and process for irregularities.
  • Responsible for material handling for each assigned process.
  • Documents, logs, and compiles reports as required.
  • Participates in area and process team projects and activities.
  • Performs or assists with other duties as assigned.

Our entry level Extruder Operator starts at $22.05 an hour, with a $2.00 per hour shift premium for working on 3rd shift. This person will need to train on 1st shift for approximately 3 months before moving to permanent 3rd shift hours. In addition to wages, our team members also receive quarterly bonuses, set by company growth and quality goals. This is 2.5%-10% of annual earnings! We also have an annual perfect attendance bonus of $1,250!

Schedule and Location

We are located at 1717 Dufek Drive in Manitowoc, WI. Third shift hours are 10:00pm-6am, Sunday-Thursday, with a flexible overtime schedule when voluntary or required. Our facility is environmentally controlled 365 days a year. That means team members are comfortable year-round, working in air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter!

Position Summary

Hose & Tubing Extrusion Machine Operator - Shape the Core of Critical Systems

At Parflex, our Extrusion Machine Operators do more than run equipment - they create the foundation of products that power high-stakes systems across the globe. From aerospace and defense to renewable energy and transportation, your work helps shape precision-engineered hose and tubing used in:

  • U.S. military vehicles like the JLTV and FMTV
  • Advanced aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning II and C-130 Hercules
  • Wind turbine braking systems and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
  • High-pressure equipment for construction, oil & gas, and emergency rescue

You’ll work hands‑on with advanced thermoplastics and fluoropolymers, monitoring quality and operating extrusion machinery that produces hose with exacting tolerances and world‑class durability. Your attention to detail and pride in quality are essential in helping Parker deliver the unmatched reliability our customers trust.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Sets up and operates thermo-plastic extruders and auxiliary equipment on the extruder line according to engineering specifications; makes immediate corrections where possible.
  • Utilizes a variety of precision measuring instruments, performing all required testing and recording all pertinent information and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Determines appropriate changeover of tooling to ensure proper dimensions according to specifications. Monitors machines and process, reporting irregularities to Lead or Supervisor for problem identification and resolution.
  • Is responsible for material handling for each assigned process.
  • Documents, logs, compiles reports as required and/or requested.
  • Participates in area and process team projects and activities.
  • Performs or assists with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
  • HS diploma or GED required
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge and Skills
  • Mathematical aptitude and proficiency
  • Keyboarding skills, with some knowledge of MS Office software
  • Ability to operate forklift and manual and electric jack; Company will train
  • Measurement skills, including use of precision measuring tools and equipment
  • Attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot for process and product improvement
  • Effective English verbal communication and listening skills
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure

Physical Demands

Our manufacturing positions have several minimum physical requirements to ensure safety and effective job performance, including:

  • Standing: Ability to stand for 8+ hours during a shift.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ability to wear required PPE such as safety shoes, eye protection (glasses/goggles), hearing protection, safety vests, and gloves.

  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hands for tasks such as using safety scissors, bending tubing, taping tube, and connecting hose assemblies.

  • Sorting: Ability to sort items by size, shape, and color.

  • Physical Movements: Includes pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting as part of daily duties.

  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 45 pounds safely.

  • Sensory Requirements: Must have the ability to perceive color accurately and hear plant paging, alarms, and other important auditory signals.

Work Environment
  • Manufacturing plant: Exposure to moving parts on a line, as well as moving equipment throughout the plant.
