Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Prior experience operating manufacturing, and process control equipment preferred.
  • Extrusion, thermoform, Injection Mold, or related plastics machine operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates machines to maintain production at a constant rate with high quality.
  • Performs in-process inspections to meet visual standards.
  • Produces parts in the proper quantity per production schedule.
  • Prepares equipment and performs startup checks.
  • Adjusts machine settings to specifications.
  • Reports KPI data and maintains safety and quality standards.
  • Identifies defective materials by color, blemishes, and dimensions.
  • Inspects molds and components for damage and wear.
  • Notifies maintenance when repairs or tool replacements are needed.
  • Maintains clean work area and 5-S standards.
  • Communicates with team and supports Leads/Supervisors.

Job description

  • Third Shift- Monday- Friday- 10:30 pm - 7:00 am

POSITION SUMMARY

Machine Operator will be responsible for operating various machines within the manufacturing process. They are required to perform various tasks to set up, operate, process and monitor production. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and to quality specifications. This includes the ability to resolve minor component and quality issues as required, maintaining expected production results, the ability to maintain production rate as stated on the work order or BOM and the ability to identify difference in each product and verify quality standard of each part and verify process integrity of each cycle per set up sheets and Control Plans.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Operates machines to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the entire shift and performing basic adjustments to ensure safe and efficient production of products. Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist whenever and in whatever capacity needed to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the entire shift.
  • Perform in-process inspections of parts throughout the manufacturing run and ensure they meet visual standards of acceptance.
  • Responsible for producing parts in the proper quantity as identified by the production schedule.
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
  • Report material utilization and daily production data.
  • Recognize defective materials for color, surface blemishes, finish, and dimensions.
  • Inspect the condition of molds and component parts for damage and wear.
  • Inspect machine, conveyor and tools in department and notify Lead that a maintenance repair is needed, or replacement tools are required.
  • Keeping work cell, department, and fire-doors clear of trash and other obstructions that could hinder department performance/safety.
  • Maintain condition of work area to meet 5-S standards.
  • Communicate with team members and support teams.
  • Maintain professional attitude offering support to Leads, Supervisors and Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Prior experience operating manufacturing, and process control equipment preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • This position is subject to the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, and repetitive motions.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment.
