Job summary

Watts in St. Pauls, NC is seeking an Extrusion Lead to guide operators, set up extrusion equipment, and ensure safe, high-quality production.

You will coordinate daily schedules, monitor throughput, and implement improvements with a focus on reducing waste and maintaining strict safety standards. The role is on-site at our manufacturing facility, reporting to the Value Stream Leader, with responsibilities for mentorship, performance oversight, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or combination of experience and education.
• 5+ years extrusion experience, preferably with pipe.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass background checks and pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion machines and related equipment.
• Lead and coordinate the activities of extrusion operators.
• Assign tasks and monitor performance of extruder operators.
• Ensure production schedules are met and materials are used efficiently.
• Monitor product quality and make adjustments to equipment as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on extrusion equipment.
• Train new operators and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
• Maintain accurate production records and logs.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Conduct first-piece inspections and ensure product quality.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Conduct and lead daily Gemba walks and meetings to promote continuous improvement and team engagement.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and cross-functional teams.
• Fill in for Supervisor as needed, including decision-making and team oversight.
