Saint-Gobain is seeking an Extruder Operator I to join the production team in Michigan. Starting pay is $21.00/hour with a $1.00/hour shift premium, on a 12-hour night shift rotating 2-2-3 schedule.

This hands-on role focuses on foundational extrusion skills, safety, and quality. You will support line start-up/shutdown, material checks, and data entry into the MES system, collaborating closely with packers and operators.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years manufacturing experience in machine operation.
• Preferred experience with quality assurance including inspecting, gauging, measuring.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shift on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule including some weekend shifts.

You'll receive on-the-job training, work a consistent 12-hour rotating schedule, and collaborate with a supportive team dedicated to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Starting pay is $21.00/hour plus a $1.00/hour shift premium.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Production Shift Leader, the Extruder Operator I is responsible for supporting safe operation of PVC extrusion lines and producing quality products within established specifications.

This hands-on role focuses on foundational skills, adherence to procedures, and learning the extrusion process. Responsible for operating and monitoring the automated vinyl and accessory extruders, tooling, and downstream equipment.

• Assist with line start-up, shutdown, and color changes under supervision
• Verify correct materials are used in production
• Perform basic quality checks (color, gloss, dimensions, product specs, visual inspection, etc.)
• Monitor line operations and report abnormalities or issues
• Enter production data into MES (Factory+) system
• Perform basic lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures on equipment
• Submit work orders and maintenance requests as needed
• Make basic equipment and tooling adjustments to maintain quality standards and support tooling cleaning, assembly, and line adjustments
• Complete shift reporting for metrics such as scrap rates and performance
• Perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment
• Communicate effectively with team members, including packers, operators, and leadership
• Pack panels and accessories according to quality standards
• Provide relief for packers during breaks
• Support team members with line issues and general production needs
• Ensure safety, quality, housekeeping, 5S, and KOI performance for assigned production line
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Night Shift Work Schedule

The position assignment is for 12-hour shifts in Production, 6:00 pm-6:00 am on a rotating schedule 2-2-3. This includes being scheduled for some weekend shifts. Starting pay rate: $21.00/hr with $1.00/hr shift premium.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years manufacturing experience in machine operation (lathe/mill/etc.), preferably extrusion machine or similar manufacturing processes
• Preferred experience with quality assurance including inspecting, guaging, measuring
• Must be able to work 12-hour night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule which includes some weekend shifts
