Job summary

Vytron Corp. in Wisconsin is seeking a manufacturing associate for packaging, quality control, and material prep. The role involves boxing, labeling, palletizing, and following the Quality Control Plan to ensure accurate counts and safe handling of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Pack merchandise in boxes/crates per QC plan and counts.
  • Prepare boxes, seal, label, and palletize for shipment.
  • Read and record production and quality reports as specified.
  • Set up and operate extrusion/machinery per job instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with safety rules.

Job description

Description

Shift Hours: 7 AM - 3 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Packaging
  • Know where to find appropriate boxes and skids for the job
  • Making boxes/crates via the use of a stapler and/or nail gun
  • Packing merchandise in boxes/crates according to the appropriate counts found on the Quality Control Plan
  • Taping/banding boxes/crates
  • Completion of labels for boxes/crates
  • Affixing appropriate labels to boxes/crates/reels according to the Quality Control Plan
  • Palletizing boxes to be shipped according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan
  • Shrink wrap pallets according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan
  • Banding pallets according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan
Quality Control
  • Quality Control Plan: The employee must know how to read, understand, and be able to accurately complete the Production Report according to specifications found in the Quality Control Plan
  • Caliper: ability to measure and read accurately
  • Collect and measure samples using a caliper according to the control plan, and record results
  • Comparator: employee must know how to effectively use it for quality control and record results.
  • Notify the shift supervisor if samples are outside of tolerances
Material Requirements
  • Ensure hopper is full of raw material; notify Shift Supervisor when product is low
  • Measure and mix colorant into raw material to ensure it maintains the appropriate color for the project, specifications found on control plan
  • Ensure the work area is clean and maintained to ensure safety
Machine Configuration
  • Extruder: tear down
  • Extruder: set up new job (setting cutter, putter and ink jets)
  • Screen Changes
  • Tooling: Care and cleaning of die and other precision parts
  • Produce a profile on extruded parts that meets specifications established in the Quality Control Plan on up to 15% of dies.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Reliance on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of machinery, small hand tools, and precision measuring devices.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Successfully pass pre-employment physical health evaluation
Physical Job Requirements

  • Frequent: Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing, pulling, and moving items: Requires the ability to move around the plant and maneuver product when necessary
  • Frequent: Walking and Standing (up to, but not limited to 8 hours): Requires moving around the plant to perform duties and assist coworkers
  • Visual requirements: ability to visually verify parts for quality due to color and set specifications.
  • Identifying and reading reports, labels, and packing materials: Requires recognizing and identifying, and using necessary plans, reports, and other informational resources
  • Climbing Ladders: Requires being able to climb a rolling ladder, up to 10 feet
  • Use of equipment tools: including hand tools, power tools (i.e., saws), air-driven tools (i.e., stapler), and measuring devices (calipers, measuring cup, bar code measurement tool)
  • Ability to operate a forklift: upon completion of in-house certification.
  • Wear required safety equipment: when appropriate/necessary/required
  • Must be able to use hands to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls

  • Due to forklifts and/or other heavy equipment traveling through the warehouse, cracks may appear in the floor, causing uneven walking surfaces
  • In the warehouse environment, an employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • The warehouse environment can be poorly lit at times
  • Floors around the work area may become slippery
  • Doors are frequently opened, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
  • Internal warehouse temperature can fluctuate (cold to warm) depending on weather conditions
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. (Hearing protection is optional but available)
