Ashley Hall, an independent school located in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, is seeking a dependable Activites Bus Driver & Facilities Team member to join our team. This full-time, dual-role position is responsible for providing safe and timely transportation for school activities and contributing to campus operations as part of the Facilities team when not driving.

Ashley Hall, an independent school located in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, is seeking a dependable Activites Bus Driver & Facilities Team member to join our team. This full-time, dual-role position is responsible for providing safe and timely transportation for school activities and contributing to campus operations as part of the Facilities team when not driving.

Key Responsibilities

• Transportation Duties
• Operate school buses for athletic events, extracurricular activities, field trips, and other off-campus events.
• Ensure student safety during transit, reinforcing appropriate behavior.
• Assist students and passengers during boarding, disembarking, and in emergency situations.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and maintain cleanliness and readiness of the bus fleet.
• Report any vehicle maintenance needs, safety concerns, or incidents promptly.
• Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal traffic and safety regulations.
• Facilities Team Support (when not driving)
• Assist with the general upkeep and maintenance of campus buildings and grounds.
• Support school events by setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment.
• Assist with the delivery and distribution of supplies and materials across campus.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, basic repairs, and trash removal.
• Serve as a flexible and dependable member of the Facilities team, supporting evolving school needs.
  
  

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement.
• Clean driving record.
• 2-5 years of professional driving experience; school or institutional driving preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible with work hours.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Comfortable performing physical tasks as part of the Facilities team.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to bend, reach, twist, and perform physical tasks required in campus maintenance.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  
  

Employment Eligibility & Screening Requirements

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all required screenings and clearances, including:

• Criminal background check (state and federal)
• Sex offender registry check
• Tuberculosis (TB) screening
• Drug screening
• Verification of eligibility to work in the United States
• Any additional screenings required by South Carolina state law or Ashley Hall policy
  
  

Time Commitment

• Availability: Typically Monday through Friday, with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on school activities.
• Typical Hours: Transportation hours usually fall between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., with multiple trips possible per day
