Position SummaryExtra Help Vascular Sonographers operate specialized equipment that transmits high frequency, ultrasound waves in order to produce pictures of the vascular system. They primarily scan arterial and venous blood vessels.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerforms the technical aspects of all arterial and venous studies on hospital and clinical patients.Positions patients for scans; sets up and adjusts equipment for each scan.Prepares supplies, instruments and equipment and assists physicians during related procedures.Selects and adjusts equipment and transducers to appropriate settings to obtain, record, store, transmit and print optimal imagesConfers with physician to determine if additional images or information is requiredAssures the completion of patient records, preliminary report documentation and patient charges.Communicates with other departments to successfully schedule various exams for the patients and schedule of same day add-on patientsCleans and disinfects transducers according to manufacturer recommendation and established infection control standards.Maintains adequate supplies in vascular ultrasound rooms and informs the manager when supplies are depleted.Provides technical assistance and instructions to students, employees, and medical residents.Performs other related duties as assignedUI Care: Patient & Employee Service ValuesOur Values and UI CARE (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) StandardsCompassion: We will treat our patients and their families with kindness and compassion and strive to better understand and respond to their needs.Accountability: We will hold ourselves accountable as an organization and as individuals to act ethically and responsibly in everything we do, to be excellent stewards of our resources and to be transparent in our actions.Respect: We will act with respect, openness and honesty in our dealings with patients, families and coworkers. - Current/valid registration, certification or licensure in vascular sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
