Job summary

The University of Illinois at Chicago, Rockford campus, invites applications for a temporary Laboratory Assistant in Biomedical Sciences. This on-site, 900-hour position supports faculty research and is located on the Rockford campus, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago.

You will perform experimental tests and assays, record and analyze results, maintain materials and records, and help prepare reports and manuscripts for publication. Prior laboratory experience is required.

• Ensure safety and cleanliness of assigned laboratory.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Position Summary Assist in laboratory tests based on research projects under faculty supervision.

• Perform experimental tests and assays. Record and analyze results in order to provide conclusive data for research projects. Work with survey data from smokers.
• Maintain materials, methods and records of experimental procedures, including evaluations of data accumulated.
• Compile and summarize results for reports, manuscripts, grants and articles for publication.
• Research literature in order to maintain a current knowledge of laboratory research methods and terminology.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of assigned laboratory.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Prior experience in laboratory research.
