Job summary

Summary:

This position provides project coordination, quality assurance, and technical accessibility support for the Office of Digital Accessibility (ODA). The role blends hands‑on digital accessibility expertise with project management responsibilities, supporting accessibility remediation initiatives across courses, documents, and Canvas‑based content. The position works closely with ODA staff, faculty, staff, and Digital Accessibility Remediation Team (DART) members to coordinate accessibility workflows, conduct accessibility checks aligned with WCAG standards, and ensure remediated materials are accurately returned to instructional and administrative systems. This position may involve additional assignments as appropriate to support accessibility initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinates digital accessibility remediation projects by tracking requests, timelines, priorities, deliverables, workflows, and project documentation across courses and departments to support the timely delivery of accessible materials.
• Reviews remediated documents, course materials, and digital content using accessibility checking tools and assistive technologies to verify compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, and related standards, and documents and escalates complex issues as appropriate. Assists with LMS‑related remediation and advanced content accessibility as needed.
• Adds remediated and accessibility‑verified documents, media, and instructional materials into Canvas and other platforms while ensuring content is properly organized, labeled, accessible, and consistent with remediation records.
• Provides technical guidance and workflow support to document remediation members and assists with faculty and staff consultations by clearly communicating project status, accessibility requirements, and best practices in remediation.
• Maintains current knowledge of digital accessibility standards, tools, and eLearning best practices and performs other duties as assigned to support Office of Digital Accessibility initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Master’s degree OR At least two (2) years of experience working with digital accessibility, document remediation, or universal design strategies.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards.
• Experience reviewing digital content for accessibility compliance.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coordinating or managing accessibility‑related projects or workflows.
• Experience working with Canvas or similar learning management systems.
• Strong experience collaborating with faculty or staff in a higher education environment.
• One or more IAAP certifications (e.g., CPACC, ADS) or progress toward certification.
• Graduate‑level coursework or degree in public health, education, disability studies, MIS, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of WCAG, Section 508, and PDF/UA standards.
• Proficiency with accessibility tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Equidox, and accessibility checking software.
• Working knowledge of assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Canvas, Google Suite, and collaboration tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to balance technical detail with project‑level coordination.
