Job summary

Pendleton County Schools is seeking a Digital Citizenship Awareness Coordinator for an extracurricular position. The role focuses on promoting responsible and safe technology use among students, families, and staff.

The coordinator will lead district-wide efforts, develop trainings, and provide resources on cybersecurity and media literacy, reporting to the Superintendent or designee.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of digital citizenship and internet safety concepts.
• Ability to design and deliver training for students, families, and staff.
• Preferred 5 years IT experience.

Responsibilities

• Create at least one social media post per month promoting internet safety and digital citizenship.
• Provide parent and/or student trainings outside regular school hours at least once annually.
• Promote cybersecurity awareness, privacy protection, phishing prevention, and password security.
• Provide resources on cyberbullying prevention, digital etiquette, AI awareness, and digital footprints.
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and technology staff.
• Maintain records of activities and outreach efforts.
• Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff regarding internet safety concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or Designee.

Extracurricular Position
Compensation: $4,000 per year
Reports To: Superintendent or Designee

Position Summary

The Digital Citizenship Awareness Coordinator will lead district efforts promoting responsible, safe, ethical, and effective technology use by students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

Appropriate WV certification/employment status; knowledge of digital citizenship, internet safety, cybersecurity awareness, and media literacy; ability to collaborate and provide training. Preferred 5 years IT experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Create a minimum of one social media posts per week each month on internet safety and digital citizenship.
• Provide at least one parent and/or student training annually outside regular school hours.
• Promote cybersecurity awareness, privacy protection, phishing prevention, and password security.
• Provide resources on cyberbullying prevention, digital etiquette, media literacy, AI awareness, digital footprints, and digital wellness.
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and technology staff.
• Maintain records of activities and outreach efforts.
• Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff regarding internet safety concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
