Job summary

Unitek College Of Nursing is seeking a Medical Assisting Externship Coordinator to support student transitions from classroom instruction to hands-on externship training. You will manage site development, student placement, and compliance, with a focus on converting externship placements into job offers.

The role emphasizes project management, relationship-building, and timely program completion. Evening availability and travel for site visits are required, with pay range shown below.

Qualifications

• Active Medical Assistant license and 3 years experience.
• Associate degree or higher preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• 3 years experience as Medical Assistant; front- and back-office operations proficiency.
• 2 years in project coordination, community engagement, and employer relations; sales/marketing background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure, maintain, and expand externship site network for post-externship employment.
• Coordinate timely student placements for externship start.
• Monitor attendance and hours to support timely graduation.
• Conduct site visits and evaluations to assess learning environment and student performance.
• Ensure immunizations and documentation completed before site placement.
• Collaborate with Career Services to align externships with employment outcomes.
• Maintain records per accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Educate site supervisors and students on externship policies and procedures.
• Provide exceptional student service through regular communication and issue resolution.
• Represent the program at community events and career fairs.
