Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking hard-working Laborers to decommission vehicles by draining fluids, removing parts, and preparing materials for crushing or shredding. You will operate tools and equipment, sort scrap, and maintain a safe yard environment.

The role is outdoor with varying weather, 6:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with Saturday as needed. Benefits include comprehensive medical options, 401k with match, weekly pay, and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• 1 year auto decommissioning/processing experience preferred.
• Front end loader or telescoping boom forklift experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems preferred.
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for crushing/shredding by draining and capturing fluids and removing the battery and other parts.
• Operate hand tools, air compressors, vehicle racks, and CFC recovery equipment.
• Recapture refrigerants from appliances, ACs, and vehicles.
• Sort scrap and prepare metal for processing.
• Provide a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report defects to supervisor.
• Support yard operations as needed.
• Follow SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules and procedures.

Job description

SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is looking for hard-working, dependable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer your main responsibility will be decommissioning vehicles by removing fluids, batteries, and other components prior to sending them to the crusher or shredder. You will also be responsible for the unloading, processing, and disassembly of various types of scrap metal; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe, effective manner.

This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Working hours are from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours as needed.

Responsibilities of a Laborer

• Prepare vehicles for crushing/shredding by draining and capturing all fluids; and removing the battery, catalytic converter and other identified vehicle parts.
• Operate various hand tools and fixed equipment, air compressors, vehicle racks, CFC recovery equipment, etc.
• Recaptures refrigerant’s on received appliances, air conditioners, and vehicles.
• Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
• Provide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Provide backup or help throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.

Qualifications of a Laborer

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-year previous auto decommissioning/processing experience preferred.
• Front end loader or telescoping boom forklift experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
