Synergis in San Francisco is seeking an experienced communications professional to translate complex AI and autonomous driving tech into clear narratives for industry stakeholders, media, customers, and the public.

You will bridge engineering and external audiences, drive external content pipelines, and cultivate relationships with AI reporters and influencers. This role requires 7+ years in tech comms and a degree in communications or journalism.

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of direct professional work experience in technology communications.
• Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous driving technology topics.

This client is an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to be the most trusted driver. Since our start as the Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, we’ve been working towards improving the world's access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes.

Overall Responsibilities:

This role involves translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives for diverse audiences, including industry stakeholders, media, customers, and the general public. This role bridges the gap between our engineering teams and external audiences, ensuring clear, accurate, and engaging communication about our AI technology, vision, and impact.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

• Drive the creation of high-quality external content pipelines, including blog posts, social media updates, talking points, and media briefing materials.
• Partner with engineering, product, and cross-functional leadership to discover, shape, and scale impactful stories around AI.
• Proactively manage and cultivate strategic relationships with key AI reporters, tech journalists, and industry influencers.
• Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or in lieu of a degree, an additional 5+ years of relevant work experience).
• At least 7+ years of direct professional work experience in technology communications.
• Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous driving technology topics.

Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or in lieu of a degree, an additional 5+ years of relevant work experience).
• At least 7+ years of direct professional work experience in technology communications.
• Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous driving technology topics.

Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience working in a fast-paced tech startup environment
• Familiarity with the AV industry and surrounding regulations

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $88.93 to $103.90/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location). Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
