Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an experienced Exterior Trim Engineer to join the Rear Exterior Team within the Exterior Engineering Design Department.

You will design, develop, and release exterior trim parts for Hyundai, KIA, and Genesis North American vehicles, while leading parts from concept to mass production. The role requires 5+ years of exterior trim experience, knowledge of US regulations, and CATIA V5 or similar CAD tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience developing exterior trim components (bumpers, fascias, roof racks, spoilers, garnishes).
• Knowledge of US regulations pertinent to exterior trim.
• Experience in design, manufacturing, and assembly of exterior trim parts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and release exterior trim parts for Hyundai, KIA, and Genesis NA vehicles.
• Lead development from styling concept to mass production.
• Create and release BOMs for responsible parts and resolve prototype issues.

Exterior Trim Engineer

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an experienced engineer to join the Rear Exterior Team of the Exterior Engineering Design Department

What You Will Do:

• Design, develop, and release exterior trim parts for Hyundai, KIA, and Genesis North American-made vehicles
• Develop innovative solutions to improve exterior trim from cost/mass, performance, and quality perspectives
• Individuals will have the opportunity to lead the development of responsible parts from styling concept to mass production
• Lead development of concept sections and surfaces
• Negotiate with supplier(s), styling, and surrounding part engineers to develop best design(s)
• Develop and release BOM for responsible parts
• Lead resolution of prototype and pilot-build issues
• Support domestic and international vehicle launch-related activities
• Mentor junior engineers in the development of exterior trim components
• Create and present technical reports to communicate project status and results
• Assess current design and recommend engineering improvements
• Travel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationally

What You Will Bring to the Role:

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline
• 5+ years of professional experience in developing exterior trim components
• Experience in one or more areas of exterior trim components is required, such as bumpers, fascias, roof racks, spoilers, and/or exterior garnishes
• Knowledge of US regulations is required
• Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, and assembly of exterior trim components is required
• Experience utilizing computer-aided design tools
  • Capability in CATIA V5 is ideal, but not required
• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Valid Driver's License & a satisfactory driving record
