Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Irvine, CA, is seeking an Exterior Designer II for our Future Design Team.

You will create striking exterior proposals for show cars and production projects, and develop visuals through sketches, renderings, and 3-D models. Basic qualifications include a Bachelor's in Industrial, Automotive, or Transportation Design and proficiency with 2D/3D visualization software (Adobe Suite, Vred, Keyshot; Alias Sub-D, Blender).

Qualifications

• Strong ability to utilize 2D and 3D visualization software and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Create exterior design proposals for show cars and production projects.
• Develop sketches, renderings and 3-D models for management presentations.
• Research and analyze trends in packaging, dimensions, materials and products.
• Provide guidance for CAD and clay modelers during design development.
• Meet with management, engineering, marketing and design to discuss criteria.
• Oversee vendors producing concept vehicles for events and auto shows.
• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

KIA America Design Center is currently looking for a Exterior Designer for our Future Design Team in our Design Studio in Irvine, CA that will:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Create striking Exterior Design proposals and Design details for Show cars and production projects.
• Visualization and development of these Design proposals in form of sketches, renderings and 3-D models, and their presentation to the management.
• Research and analysis of trends in overall packaging, dimensions, material, and products using online and print resources and by attending auto shows and other inspiring and/or educational events.
• Provide guidance and direction for CAD and clay modelers during the Design development phase.
• Meet with Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Design Team to discuss Design criteria. Incorporate into the Design proposal the criteria provided.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and support to vendors producing one-of-a-kind "Concept Vehicles" for internal events as well as for Auto shows worldwide.
• Travel to Korea to oversee further product development by working with the Korean Design and Engineering teams.
• Benchmark competitive vehicles to aid Design direction.
• Travel up to 15% of the time domestically and internationally.
• Apply common sense to create true innovations and not only the evolutionary process thinking.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Automotive, or Transportation Design
• Strong ability to utilize various types of 2D and 3D visualization Software (Adobe Suite, Vred, Keyshot, etc.) and strong modeling skills (Alias, Alias Sub-D, Blender,etc).
