Job summary

EDAG is hiring an Exterior Trim Design & Release Engineer in Long Beach, CA to lead exterior trim parts from concept to production launch.

The role collaborates with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, interfaces and packaging, lead design reviews, and drive tooling, testing, verification, and DFMEA activities for timely program delivery.

English proficiency required; 6 months contract located in the LA area with potential for future opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5 years releasing exterior trim parts.
Experience taking parts from concept through tooling, testing, and launch.
Proficiency with 3DEXPERIENCE for product definition and lifecycle data management.
Experience developing DFMEAs and managing design risk.
English language proficiency and ability to work in DEARBORN or LONG BEACH.

Responsibilities

Develop and release exterior trim components from concept to production launch.
Define requirements, interfaces, packaging, attachment strategy, and design direction with cross-functional teams.
Lead design reviews and supplier discussions; resolve geometry, appearance, fit, cost, and timing.
Prepare drawings, models, specifications, engineering change documentation, and release data.
Lead tooling kick-off and monitor tooling progress through reviews, tool trials, and inspections.
Plan component testing, verify results, and drive resolution of failures.
Develop and maintain DFMEAs and ensure mitigations are in the validation plan.
Support build events, manufacturing readiness, and launch activities.
Manage interfaces with body structure, lighting, sealing, closures, and other exterior components.
