Job summary

Utah State Extension seeks an Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences in Muhlenberg County, Central City, KY. The role focuses on planning, delivering, and evaluating programs to improve family health, financial stability, and community wellbeing.

You will develop curricula in nutrition, family resource management, health and safety, and leadership, while building partnerships with local agencies and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences or related fields such as Family & Consumer Sciences Education, Dietetics, Human Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work to improve quality of living for families and individuals.
• Plan and implement educational programs focusing on healthy choices, nurturing families, aging, financial stability, and nutrition.
• Develop and share expertise in family and consumer sciences topics (food, nutrition, FS management, health, leadership, housing).
• Lead leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers and support community leadership development.

Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences – Muhlenberg County

Location: Central City, KY

The Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences will:

• develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs, which will lead to improved quality of living for families & individuals
• plan and implement educational programs which focus on:

1. making healthy choices
2. nurturing families
3. embracing life as you age
4. securing financial stability
5. promoting healthy homes and communities
6. accessing nutritious food
7. empowering community leaders

• develop expertise and serve as a resource in family and consumer sciences programming areas including:

1. food and nutrition
2. family resource management
3. human development and family relations
4. health, safety, and wellness
5. leadership development
6. clothing and textiles
7. housing and the environment
8. home-based and micro business
9. implement educational programs which strengthen families and individuals
10. develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers, resulting in the development of personal and organizational leadership skills.

All agents in a county will support the dissemination of useful and practical information on subjects relating to Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H and Community and Rural Development as outlined in the KRS statutes 164.605 to 164.675.

State law requires a national and state criminal background check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a background check of child abuse and neglect records as a condition of employment or involvement in this program.
