Education And Experience

Recent experience working as a Special Education 1:1 assistant is preferred.

  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage in positive behavior management.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be dedicated to preparation and planning for the next day’s lessons.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to reach all students' ability levels.
  • Ability to adapt well and respond positively and resiliently to change in environment and/or job tasks and assignments
  • Ability to work well with others and/or with little or no direct supervision
  • Takes initiative, thinks critically, and uses deductive reasoning to address problems and issues.

Essential Functions

  • Create a learning environment where students feel valued and eager to attend.
  • Provide differentiated instruction, with mixed-grade classrooms, using existing curriculum materials or developing your own initiatives.
  • Attend all trainings and meetings as required.
  • Provide high-quality program facilitation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Lead and/or Director of Extended Learning.
