Job summary

Fort Bend ISD seeks an Extended Learning Assistant Site Coordinator to direct and organize campus-based before/after school programs. You will ensure a safe, engaging environment with age-appropriate activities and coordinate field trips and staff coaching.

The role requires 1 year of childcare and supervisory experience, strong communication, and proficiency in MS Office. Collaboration with campus staff and parents is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; transcript accepted in lieu of diploma.
  • Associate degree or 60 hours from an accredited college preferred.
  • Child care certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of childcare experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of management and supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of child development theories and practices for pre-school to school age.
  • Proficient computing skills, including MS Office.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage daily operations of campus-based Extended Learning programs.
  • Coordinate field trips and full-day events with staff and families.
  • Communicate clearly with parents and campus administration.
  • Lead and coach site Leaders; participate in staff development.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, records, and adherence to confidentiality.

Job Overview

The Assistant Site Coordinator will assist in directing, organizing and managing the daily operations of campus-based before and/or after school Extended Learning programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Support
  • Assist in creating and reinforcing an inviting and safe education environment for students including, but not limited to, age-appropriate enrichment, creative arts, and recreational activities
  • Work with groups of children with diverse abilities and needs and ensure safety and well-being of students at the assigned campus
  • Work cooperatively to coordinate programs and activities for field trips and other full-day events
  • Communicate clearly with parents about their children and the program
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with the campus administration and staff to identify community and student needs, provide consistency with campus climate and procedures, and ensure the proper use of building materials and equipment
  • Actively recruit students throughout the year to maintain minimum enrollment for all programs
  • Assist in maintaining efficient and accurate student and staff records including financial, attendance, medical and discipline records with extreme discretion, in a timely manner, and in compliance with all confidentiality requirements
  • Maintain a professional and confidential relationship with regard to students, parents, and other department staff
  • Serve as a program ambassador to promote the program with the District, school and community
Curriculum
  • Supervise the implementation of site curriculum (i.e., lesson plans), including age-appropriate subjects and character development activities
Training
  • Provide strong leadership to multiple Extended Learning Group Leaders; provide ongoing targeted coaching and training on prescribed topics
  • Coordinate staff meetings and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (i.e., staff development, curriculum development)
  • Orient and train assigned staff
Safety
  • Review daily attendance and implement steps to verify absences and ensure all children are accounted for on a daily basis
  • Maintain a highly functional site at assigned campus in compliance with district, health, nutritional and program standards, policies and procedures

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Additional Information
  • Work may include noisy and/or disruptive student behavior. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood, pre-teen or teen illnesses may occur. Work is also performed outside and on field trips. Travel is required between district campuses and facilities.
  • This position requires continuous standing and walking throughout the shift to provide active supervision and support safety.
