Job summary

Leominster Public Schools is seeking an Extended Absence Special Education Tutor (Stipend Position) to provide targeted instruction to students unable to attend school in person due to extended medical, health, or behavioral absences.

Locations include in-home, community settings, or virtual as designated; compensation is a district hourly stipend ($50/hr for student-facing time, $40/hr for preparation). Schedule is flexible and typically 5–10 hours per week per student.

Qualifications

• Certification: DESE certification in Special Education or required license in related service field.
• Experience: Demonstrated success working with students receiving special education services; familiarity with homebound or alternative instruction models preferred.
• Skills: Excellent communication, flexibility, organization, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction tailored to each student’s IEP and general education curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers and service providers to obtain learning materials and adapt assignments.
• Document attendance, instructional hours, and progress through weekly logs.
• Maintain professional communication with families and staff to support re-entry into the classroom.
