Job summary

Austin Oaks Hospital in South Austin, Texas seeks a licensed Music, Art, or Recreational Therapist for a PRN position to provide direct therapy, evaluative activities, and coordination of hospital-wide programs.

You will work with adolescents and adults to promote crisis resolution, personal growth, and positive self-awareness in a home-like setting, applying therapeutic recreation skills and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's and/or Master's in Therapeutic Recreation, Art or Music.
  • Licensure/Certification: Texas licensure with NCTRC/CTRS/MT-BC/ATR.
  • Experience: One year preferred working with child, adolescent and adult populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide art, music and therapeutic recreation services to patients, including direct therapy and evaluative activities.
  • Coordinate hospital-wide activities and programs to support patient engagement and recovery.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor's and/or Master's level degree from an accredited college /university in a Therapeutic Recreation program, Art or Music.


LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Required: Certification with NCTRC, CTRS, MT-BC, and ATR in Texas.


EXPERIENCE: Preferred: One year experience working with child, adolescent and adult populations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of object weighing up to 25 lbs. Physically fit to demonstrate and conduct recreation activities for patients. Physical ability to restrain patients through use of hospital approved methods.
