Job summary

Garavel Subaru in Norwalk, CT, is hiring a Service Technician Apprentice who will learn from a Mentor Lead Technician and Service Manager to perform Express Lube maintenance and basic repairs.

Salary: $600 - $800 per week, with an apprenticeship and visible career path, plus hands-on manufacturer training and workshops.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background screening.

Responsibilities

• Assists assigned technicians as needed.
• Delivers customer cars to service stalls as requested by technicians.
• Picks up parts from the parts department as directed by technicians.
• Performs safety inspections, oil changes, lubrication work, basic maintenance and minor repairs as directed.
• Replenishes supplies as requested by mentor technician and/or service manager.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Attends manufacturer instructor training classes.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to stay informed with rapidly changing technology.
• Assists in the Lot and other duties as assigned by supervisor

Position Summary

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of a Service Technician Apprentice, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to frequently move in and out of vehicles frequently
• Required to test drive all vehicles

Work Conditions

• All-weather toughness - exposure to inclement weather
• Are often exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment that result in cuts, bruises, or minor burns.
• Work inside enclosed vehicles, such as trucks, cars, and SUV’s. Often work in cramped workspaces underneath vehicles that require getting into awkward positions.
• Regularly wear protective gear, such as goggles or earplugs.
• Are exposed to contaminants, such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers, on a daily basis.
• Are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable on a daily basis.
• May sometimes work in cold or hot temperatures
