Job Summary

The Export Compliance Specialist supports Safran's export compliance program by ensuring adherence to U.S. and international trade regulations, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, and other global export control frameworks. The role involves driving compliance strategy, managing regulatory changes, and serving as a subject matter expert while collaborating across departments to align compliance with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review export documentation such as shipping records, licenses, and agreements for compliance.
  2. Prepare and submit export license applications and regulatory filings.
  3. Conduct export jurisdiction and classification determinations.
  4. Maintain accurate records related to export transactions and compliance activities.
  5. Screen customers, vendors, and partners against restricted party lists.
  6. Collaborate with internal teams (sales, shipping, engineering) to ensure compliance.
  7. Investigate potential compliance issues, document findings, and support resolution efforts.
  8. Support audits, training sessions, and compliance reviews.
  9. Escalate compliance issues to management as needed.

This work is performed primarily in an office environment, with potential travel between Irvine, California, and other locations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, International Relations, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in compliance, logistics, or international trade preferred.
  • 0-5 years' related work experience or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn U.S. export control regulations (ITAR, EAR).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience with export compliance software is a plus.
  • Experience in aerospace or defense industry is a plus but not required.
Additional Information

This position requires U.S. persons as defined by ITAR, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, political asylees, or refugees. Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
