Job summary

The Transportation Security Specialist - Explosives (TSS-E) at TSA serves as a journey-level expert on threats from explosives and IEDs for the Federal Security Director at designated airport(s). Candidates must hold a NAVSCOLEOD or FBI HDS graduation certificate and have specialized experience in bomb programs and responding to alarms.

Qualifications

Formal accredited IED/bomb disposal coursework resulting in a Graduation Certificate from NAVSCOLEOD or FBI HDS.
One year of specialized experience at SV-G or GS-11 in the Federal service or equivalent private sector Bomb Officer roles.
Experience on bomb program management and incident response as described in the posting.
Quality Ranking Factor: specialized experience within the last five years.

Responsibilities

Assist with bomb program management as a team member on a bomb squad and implement procedures under a program manager.
Respond to alarms involving possible explosives or IEDs and assess device components to classify the explosiveness.
Participate in evaluations and processes related to threat assessment and public safety.
