Job summary

TSA seeks a Transportation Security Specialist - Explosives (TSS-E) to serve as a journey-level expert at designated airports, focusing on threats to the traveling public from explosives and improvised devices.

Qualified candidates have formal accredited IED/bomb disposal coursework resulting in a Graduation Certificate from NAVSCOLEOD or the FBI Hazardous Devices School, plus at least one year of specialized experience at SV-G or GS-11 in federal service or equivalent private-sector Bomb

Qualifications

• Formal IED/bomb disposal coursework with Graduation Certificate from NAVSCOLEOD or FBI HDS.
• At least one year of specialized experience at SV-G/GS-11 in federal service or equivalent private sector role (Bomb Appraisal Officer, EOD Technician, Bomb Technician, or similar).
• Specialized experience includes bomb program management and responding to alarms involving explosives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as journey-level SME on explosives threats at designated airports.
• Assist with bomb program management and implement procedures as directed.
• Respond to alarms and assess IED components to classify devices.
