Job summary

Jobot in Dallas, TX seeks an Exploitation Geologist to lead subsurface interpretation and development opportunities in mature oil and gas assets. You will integrate seismic data, logs, core and production data to build detailed geological models.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Geology, 3–5 years in conventional fields, and proficiency with Petra/Kingdom; Master’s preferred. Competitive pay, bonus, LTIP, and strong growth prospects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in conventional oil and gas fields.
  • Experience in production, exploration, and development geology preferred.
  • Strong background in subsurface interpretation, well log analysis, seismic interpretation, and geological modeling.
  • Proficiency in geoscience software including Petra and Kingdom.
  • Ability to independently produce high-quality technical work.
  • Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and field staff to move projects from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Identify exploration and development opportunities through seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and regional geological studies.
  • Evaluate mature assets to identify bypassed hydrocarbons and remaining recoverable resources.
  • Integrate seismic, well log, core, completion, production, injection, and surveillance data into geological models.
  • Generate recompletion, reactivation, and waterflood optimization opportunities.
  • Create structure, net pay, porosity, and hydrocarbon pore volume maps and cross-sections.
  • Determine reserves and economics for proposed capital projects.
  • Collaborate with Exploitation Engineering, Operations, and field teams to advance projects.
  • Provide technical consultation and present findings to senior leadership.

Job Details
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Identify exploration and development opportunities through seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and regional geological studies.

  • Integrate seismic, well log, core, completion, production, injection, and surveillance data into detailed geological models.

  • Create structure, net pay, porosity, and hydrocarbon pore volume maps and detailed geological cross-sections.
  • Determine reserves and economics associated with proposed capital projects.
  • Partner with exploitation engineering, operations, geologists, and field teams to advance projects through implementation and production.
  • Provide technical consultation to internal teams.
  • Present findings and project recommendations to senior leadership.
Needed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in conventional oil and gas fields.
  • Experience in production, exploration, and development geology preferred.
  • Strong background in subsurface interpretation, well log analysis, seismic interpretation, and geological modeling.
  • Proficiency in geoscience and petrophysical software, including Petra and Kingdom.
  • Ability to independently produce high-quality technical work.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineers, geologists, and field staff to move projects from concept through production.
  • Ability to clearly present technical findings and recommendations to management.
  • Waterflooding experience and knowledge of Rockies, Midcontinent, and South Texas geology are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Petrel, Spotfire, Aries, Interactive Petrophysics, Microsoft Copilot, IHS Enerdeq, or DrillingInfo is a plus.
