Trinity Rail is hiring a Expert Mobile Repair Technician at our Sunray, TX Traveling Team.

The Expert Mobile Repair Technician position offers a great opportunity for a resilient, team-oriented individual who embraces challenges.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance
  • Perform repairs following current procedures
  • Meet customer expectations to deliver exceptional service
  • Ensure invoicing, inspection, and work order accuracy
  • Participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections
  • Mentor/train lower-level technicians as needed
  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • Engage in safety committees or initiatives if required
  • Complete all on-board safety and quality training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing, or proficiency in two or more disciplines such as Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster, or relevant qualifications
  • Willingness to travel and work at required locations
  • Knowledge of the Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules
  • Ability to learn general railcar inspections and final inspections of work
  • Advanced skills in reading engineered drawings
  • Ability to create and complete BRC documentation
  • Understanding of major railcar components and functions
  • Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights
  • Ability to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits
  • Capability to work independently without supervision
  • Proficiency with hand tools (hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools)
  • Ability to pass NDT disciplines and function-specific certifications, including tank car welding, with strong familiarity with AAR regulations
  • Welding, Valve, Mechanical experience, or railcar knowledge preferred
  • Leadership ability to guide a crew in completing work
  • Must operate and maintain Trinity Rail Mobile Repair Trucks, with some requiring DOT regulated driver status
  • Meet DOT requirements to operate CMVs under 26k GVWR
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
