Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. in Sylmar, CA is seeking an Expert Aerospace Quality Engineer to lead NPI quality activities in a manufacturing aerospace environment, ensuring processes meet AQMS/APQP/AS9145 standards.

You will partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to identify solutions that reduce issues during NPI and product transitions, and you will analyze complex issues with data-driven approaches using Excel and Power BI while reporting to the Senior Site Quality Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment as a Manufacturing Engineer /Quality Engineer/ Industrial Engineer.
  • Demonstrated skills in project planning tools (Gantt, kanban) and visual management systems.
  • User of Microsoft Client 365 Tools (Excel, Teams, CoPilot, Project, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Use visual management tools (dashboards, Kanban, and other tools) for team communication and accountability.
  • Advanced experience with AQMS/APQP/AS9145 including PFMEA, Control Plan and Measurement System Analysis.
  • Advanced skills in Excel/PowerBi and similar data analytic tools.
  • We prefer certification in Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
  • We prefer Six Sigma Black belt certification.

  • Investigate internal and customer-reported quality issues, leading teams through structured problem-solving to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement proactive quality methodologies that shift us from reactive problem-solving to preventive quality practices.

Job description

As an Expert Aerospace Quality Engineer, you will lead the implementation of new product introduction following quality systems and new product introduction practices in the transparency manufacturing aerospace environment. Investigating detailed production control problems in major processes, methods, standards, specifications, inspection, and testing equipment to provide value to new product launch. You will sit onsite in our Sylmar, CA facility and report to the Senior Site Quality Manager.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $148,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 10% of base salary.
