This range is provided by YMCA of Greater Providence. Your actual pay will depend on your skills and experience. Discuss with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $25.00/hr

Position Overview

This is a substitute position at various YMCA locations including Bayside, Newman, Cranston, Kent, South County, and East Side. The role involves providing quality dance instruction across various styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, ballroom, and belly dance.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with members, create a welcoming environment, and address them by name.
  • Identify and assist new participants.
  • Stay updated on program schedules to enhance member satisfaction.
  • Create a fun, safe, and educational environment for dance classes.
  • Implement classes adhering to national and state standards.
  • Ensure health and safety during classes, including performing first aid when necessary.
  • Report accidents and injuries appropriately.
  • Set up and break down equipment as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and role model YMCA core values: Respect, Honesty, Caring, Responsibility.
  • Maintain participant records and communicate class coverage needs.
  • Instruct age-appropriate classes and develop choreography.
  • Participate in special events such as performances and recitals when required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Extensive teaching experience in dance.
  • Membership or certification from a recognized dance organization (e.g., Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America).
