Job description

Job Description – EXPERT TECHNICIAN (AV/NETWORK and Related Residential Automation)

Room to grow, rooted in the Bay Area.

Chamberlux Automata is proud to team with the best and brightest architects & builders of the wider SF Bay Area to design, build and support the luxuriously bespoke home environments of our up-market client base. We are a hands on and personable bunch, always underpinning innovative technology with tried and true best practices, and we maintain a level of professionalism that sets us apart. When seeking a new addition to our team, the person is as much importance as the skill set. A team that works this well together takes time and patience to build but is completely worth all the effort, therefore we look to augment our relatively small staff with like minded individuals who bring both a complimentary skill set and are motivated to support growth within the company.

At this time, we’re seeking a Expert Technician who will readily slide into the role with confidence. Your affinity for electronics and technology must coincide with a career built on tradecraft and conscientiousness. From day one, we’d expect you to present yourself confidently to other trade supervisors as well as homeowners and designers in the daily course of your work. And because this will be a supervisory role, your contributions will be critically important to the success of all projects you are engaged in. You’d have full support of the team and will be provided with the resources and tool stack needed to perform your work effectively. We will continue to iterate operational expectations and procedures to bolster the team efficiency and your input would be equally considered and absorbed in the process.

Required Professional Skills:
  • Honed professional skills specifically including personal process QA and recordkeeping foremost.
  • Time management and prioritization capabilities.
  • Unquestionable communication and coordination skills, internal and client-facing, fluid with email, online calendars, and apps (Google Workspace, Asana, REVU, etc.).
  • Interpreting, referencing and marking up professional drawing packages from both external and internal development. (REVU Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Visio, etc.)
Required Technical Skills:
  • Deep understanding of systems architecture.
  • Network administration, wifi deployment and maintenance.
  • Control system administration and basic system admin skills to work with remote programmers (for Crestron, Josh, Savant, RTI, or others).
  • Audio and Video commissioning to industry standards and best practices.
  • Home automation system setup (lighting, shades, sensors and controls, multiroom audio, surround sound, video projection).
  • Versed in all typical AV device installations, including flat panel displays. Projectors & screens, motorized mounts and housings, recessed and invisible speakers, panelized controls for lighting and shades (enough to coordinate with jobsite electricians), motorized shades, security cameras/NVR and everything else low voltage.
Responsibilities:
  • First line of response to clients for service and support requests.
  • Resolving support issues and documenting all adjustments to the systems as a whole.
  • Completing the last %10 of the project, including commissioning, programming, punch list items, quick start guide and training the homeowner.
  • Scheduling service and support requests between the larger project schedules.Maintaining project and service documentation accuracy (Asana, Google Sheets) on a daily basis.
  • Absorbing the design intent and an understanding of the client’s expectations for project completion. Then working backwards from that to achieve it in a timely manner.
  • Daily communication with various stakeholders and project teams to evaluate progress and plan accordingly.
  • Prepping the materials and tools needed for the work ahead.
  • Implementation of the systems specified. Onsite work, cabling, installation, testing, configuration.
  • Guiding and more junior team members on best practices.
  • Attending and heavily contributing to regular production meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Documented experience in ALL mandatory professional and technical skills above, and conversational familiarity at a minimum with all desired skills.
  • Industry certification from AVIXA, CEDIA, and/or 15 years industry experience with 5 years in a similar role.
  • Clean driver’s license
Schedule:
