Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is seeking an Expert Analyst to identify, collect, and analyze data to support prospective business decisions. This role coordinates projects for senior management and develops documentation, reports, and presentations for all organizational levels.

The analyst will validate data, perform trend analysis, and provide concise, actionable insights to upper management and executives, including knowledge of Medicare Advantage Stars and/or HEDIS data as applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred and continuous learning encouraged.
• Five years of related experience to provide necessary knowledge and abilities.
• Strong communication and data analysis skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develops documentation, reports and presentations for all levels within the organization including executive leadership.
• Demonstrates ownership of analyses from data pull through validation, summary of findings, and final deliverable.
• Summarizes analytical findings clearly, including approach, key observations, conclusions, and business implications.
• Performs data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reporting outputs.
• Responsible for trend analysis, report development, ad-hoc analysis and support
• Develop and present complex analytics concisely for consumption by upper management and Executive leadership
• Conduct healthcare analytics to evaluate quality performance, member outcomes, utilization trends, and program effectiveness.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously by establishing project plans and objectives to ensure goal attainment within defined parameters
• Compile data from a variety of sources and conduct analytics using software including Excel, Oracle (SQL) and SAS to support business decisions
• Knowledge of Medicare Advantage Stars and/or HEDIS data is a plus.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Health Care, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field.


• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or other related field preferred.


• Continuous learning, as defined by the Company’s learning philosophy, is required.

Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE

• Five (5) years of experience in a related field required to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong communication skills are required to understand, interpret, and communicate ideas.


• Strong knowledge and use of existing software packages (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).


• Strong knowledge of data languages such as SAS or SQL


• Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem‑solving skills.


• Ability to effectively interface with employees at all levels.


• Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.

PAY RANGE: Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $73,600 and $123,200.
