Work Performed:
- Sets up and operates all types of digitally driven manufacturing equipment including CNC multi-axis / multi-function machines, gear cutting, gear grind, surface grind machines, and various other integrated systems.
- Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread, and universal grinders for development and tool work. Must be able to grind steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads. Must be able to set up truing devices on thread grinding for various types and forms of threads.
- Set-ups and work must be held to extremely close tolerances.
- Advises and assists Engineers in developing new processes to manufacture various metallic and/or composite dynamic components such as transmission and gearbox cases, covers, housings, power & accessory gears (including spiral bevel, helical, and hypoid), and various metallic rotor and airframe components.
- Performs all machine set-up and operation steps necessary to complete assigned jobs.
- Works from drawings, 3D models, engineering orders, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments.
- Works to ensure safe operating conditions and maintains normal housekeeping of assigned process areas.
- All work performed will be for experimental purposes only.
Tools & Equipment Used:
- All types of dynamic component manufacturing equipment – load/unload equipment, overhead crane, tool set equipment, machinist hand tools, and precision measuring instruments, manual and dynamic fixtures.
Experience & other requirements:
- Five (5) years CNC experience in the last seven (7) years operating precision Multi-Axis (e.g., 4 Axis or more) numerically controlled equipment with integrated tool management systems.
- Experience gained at Bell will count toward the required experience and other requirements for job bidding purposes.
- Until June 30, 2025, upgraded employees will have a sixty-day (60) trial period in the new job classification during which time they must demonstrate their ability to meet the requirements for the job.
