Job summary

TAE Technologies seeks a Scientist (Experimental Plasma Physicist) to advance diagnostic capabilities on the C-2W fusion device. You will develop and operate advanced spectroscopy, X-ray detectors, and fast ion diagnostics while collaborating with engineering to implement new systems.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years post-PhD experience in experimental plasma physics with radiation/fast ion diagnostics.
  • Proficiency with plasma diagnostic instrumentation, optical systems, and high-vacuum systems.
  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining diagnostics on plasma devices.
  • Familiarity with fusion diagnostics and radiation safety protocols.
  • Experience with Python or similar data analysis tools; knowledge of plasma modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine diagnostic techniques to characterize fast ion distributions and plasma parameters.
  • Collaborate with engineering to design, implement, and maintain detector systems and instrumentation.
  • Plan and execute experiments on the C-2W fusion device.
  • Analyze complex data with advanced modeling tools and interpret results within the fusion program.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for reviews and conferences.
  • Contribute to design and testing of new diagnostic systems with scientists and engineers.
  • Maintain laboratory infrastructure following safety protocols.
  • Promote safety culture and company core values.
